Bubba and his older brother Jeb have had a pretty rough life so far. We are so happy that they are with us so they can finally receive the love and care they deserve. Both boys came to he shelter intact, with no vetting history, crawling with fleas, underweight with thin and brittle coats. They were likely outside dogs (Bubba is heartworm positive and will start treatment at the end of October) as the elements of their new household seem very strange and confusing to them. They are especially fascinated by the TV, although they're getting used to it and only react to animal noises or high-pitched sounds now. Bubba is doing his best with house training but he wears a belly band when unsupervised. He is crated when no one is home and does very well with that. He also eats in his crate, as he needs to be kept separate from other dogs during mealtimes. Bubba is very friendly and safe around new people and children, and gets along well with all of the dogs here except one (Teddy, who is also a late neuter and for some reason has it out for little Bubba.) He is very interested in cats and may be a little "much" for nervous felines who are not used to being tracked by nosy beagles.
Overall this is a very typical beagle: a little hard-headed but sweet and gentle, noisy at times but lazy and happy to snuggle more often than not. Bubba and Jeb get a long well but do not have to be adopted together. Bubba would likely be fine as an only dog but he is happy to meet new canine friends!
