He weighs 5 pounds. He has almost no teeth. He's a sleepy old man. And yet his owners felt that the best place for him and his sister was outside in a small pen. They didn't want their dogs anymore, so they locked them up outside. And that's where Cory and Topanga may have stayed, but when a coyote started digging at the pen the owners' daughter reached out for help. It was not easy for her but she knew the little dogs were in danger. As soon as we heard about their situation, we committed to taking them and the ball was rolling on getting them alive and safe from NC to PA.
And now that we have them, we really have no idea why they were put out in the first place. Cory and Topanga are sweet, loving, super friendly and cuddly. They do well with other animals and like going outside to potty. Cory especially likes to be in the sun, maybe because it helps soothe his broken skin. Life outside leads to problems like fleas (which lead to skin infections), and heartworms (which lead to death if not treated). Cory was living with both, and is still being treated and recovering from his neglect. But he's ready to go home with is sister Topanga and some medications, to start living his best life. Will you be the lucky one to add these little sweethearts to your family?
Please note: Cory is being treated for heartworms. Medication is provided by GOT. He has trouble eating so he needs canned food (small bites, not chunky or pate). He and Topanga are very bonded and will need to be adopted together.
