Another "old" pup from South Carolina, Ethel was found as a stray and taken to the shelter. Based on her age and breed, they didn't feel she was adoptable, and kept her in the back pens where she couldn't even be seen by the public. Thankfully this shelter has a good rescue program (and a good relationship with GOT!) and they asked us to save her. We were full as always, but we know a good dog when we see one and we were happy to squeeze Ethel in.
Transport came to us at 2am, so there wasn't an opportunity to do proper pack introductions outside. Ethel just walked into a house full of dogs and cats while we hoped for the best. Well, she is the best! It was like she had always been there, and was just coming home to see old friends. Ethel gets along with everyone but really likes people the best- she wants to play play play, with just some breaks for butt scratches. She really likes to snuggle in bed with her foster dad, hogging the pillow and making sure the fan blows on her tummy.
It's obvious that Ethel had a home once. She was already spayed and at a good weight when she was found, and has nice clean teeth. She has some arthritis in her back leg (maybe from an old injury?) but is otherwise in good health. She even tested negative for heartworms, which is surprising since she came from the south. Best of all, she has very good manners and is well behaved in the house and car. We'll never know why her family gave her up, but we do know that she will be safe forever now that she's with us. Ethel is an easy friend in our pack but she really wants a home of her own so that she doesn't have to share her family with so many others. Please consider adding this very good girl to your life!
