Max came to us when his mom developed dementia very suddenly. She is only 61 years old so it was very unexpected and she had not made plans for her three cats. Although we were a little nervous about taking all three because of our limited space and (sadly) our low cat adoption rates, we couldn't leave anyone behind. So Max and his brother Ziggy came to us along with their sister Mitzi.

All three cats were understandably nervous when they arrived, but Max was the first one to figure out that he was safe and could get head pats and back scratches. He's a big boy and wasn't comfortable enough to groom himself, so he got little mats on his back that he was very tolerant of having removed. Although Max has a history of urinary problems, we have not seen any issues and he is a very happy and hearty fellow. Sometimes his lips get stuck and he looks like a derpy vampire, but of course he does not have these issues when a phone is nearby to take a picture. Max is a dignified gentleman but if you give him some catnip he'll show you another side! He's just a big lovebug who is so sweet and silly, but misses his mom and his real home.
