BREED: Puggle (Pug/Beagle Mix)
ADOPTION FEE: $250
What's the story with this handsome boy? We're not sure. He was abandoned by his owner after being dropped off at a vet clinic in VA. He was taken there for an appointment... but was there something wrong with him at that time? Were they just looking for a way to dump him somewhere safe? We'll never know. What we do know is that McFly has diabetes, and he lost his sight suddenly, shortly after coming to our rescue. We also know that he was once loved and cared for, since he is a fantastic pup with good manners and good overall health.
This guy has been a real treat in foster care. McFly gets along with dogs and cats and is happy to meet new people. He's also a good watchdog despite his visual impairment, and he's quick to let us know when potential burglars are nearby. He walks well on a leash, rides well in the car, is house trained and can be left unsupervised when home alone. He takes his twice daily insulin injections with no problems, and is happy to accept food and treats with no aggression or chomping. A perfect gentleman... which makes the story of his abandonment all the more mysterious.
McFly is currently on Novolin, which is an inexpensive insulin that we purchase at Walmart along with his syringes. He needs injections about 12 hours apart, every day. His blindness does not slow him down, but he will need a gentle and patient family to help him navigate new surroundings. Please consider adding this very special boy to your family!
