NAME: Penny (aka Moneypenny)
ADOPTION FEE: $200
Her mom named her Penny, but this girl is ten pounds of sass in a five pound sack, so we have affectionately nicknamed her Moneypenny to reflect her importance in the household. It took a few days for her to warm up to her foster mom, and she's still wary of strangers and is very happy to nip an ankle. The big dogs have learned to respect her tiny authority, and the cats got used to being chased once they knew no harm would befall them. You may think that a little stinker like Moneypenny would be a tough fit for a full and busy house, but in reality she is just an amusing and relatively easy addition to the pack of misfits.
With her sass comes loyalty and love, and now that she is comfortable here she is happy to snuggle her foster mom or even climb her to lay on the back of the couch. She is not house trained, but her messes are small and happen in a consistent location (pee pads would likely help, but we have several dogs with mobility issues so we try to keep them off the floors). She came with some medical issues, but we had her hernia repaired and her masses and skin tags removed. Do you like Chihuahuas? If yes, you'll love Moneypenny. If no, check out the bigger easygoing dogs in our rescue.
Moneypenny didn't come to us because of any of her issues. She was loved and spoiled (perhaps a bit much so... she is working on losing weight and was obviously undersocialized), but her mom passed away and left little Moneypenny all alone. We were happy to take the chubby mess into our rescue, and we are hoping someone will be happy to take her into their home forever. If you're on the fence, hop down and walk away: Moneypenny needs commitment and patience, since relocating again is going to be tough on her. But a home and a family of her own is what she deserves, so we will not stop looking and praying for the perfect one to come along!
