ADOPTION FEE: $40
Just a skinny tuxedo cat in an overcrowded shelter. Not a kitten but not an old man, nothing to make him more adoptable than the others, a little too shy to stand out. We knew the odds were not in Wallaby's favor, so we decided to squeeze him in.
We gave him a room to himself, to help him decompress and decide if he wanted to get love and pets. But Wallaby just hid, under a shelf or under his bed, only creeping out occasionally for canned food and a head scratch. On a hunch we moved him to the foster room to see if he would be happy with the friendly cats in there, and although he's still a little nervous we could see a difference almost immediately! He still likes to hide but we see him every day, and we're proud of the progress he's made in just a short time. He's met a few small dogs and didn't have a big reaction one way or another, so we feel he could live happily with canine friends too.
Wallaby is still not the most adoptable cat around. He's still shy and he may never be an outgoing cuddle bug, but he deserves a real home and a chance to be a real pet. There's no way to know what this poor boy has been through, but we know there's a family out there who will be willing to give him the best life he's ever lived.
